Jezebel kills Naboth for her covetous husband

 

Upon learning that Naboth is the cause of her husband's distress, Jezebel conspires to kill him:

...But Naboth replied, “The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my ancestors.” (3)

In order to acquire Naboth's vineyard Jezebel who is known for worshiping false gods and idols accused Naboth of blaspheming God. She asked for the leaders to proclaim a day fasting and seat "Naboth in a prominent place among the people (9). But seat two scoundrels opposite him and have them bring charges that he has cursed both God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death" (10)
